America... The greatest, the worst, or simply average? - My opinion
Hey Bloggy Buddies! Today in class, we thought about and discussed whether or not we thought America was the greatest country. I usually have an opinion on most topics, but this was one where I wasn't quite sure where I stood. Then, we watched an excerpt from the movie The Newsroom and then reevaluated our answers. Here's what I concluded. Enjoy! <3

After watching the video, I concluded that I don't think that there is a conclusion. What I mean by that is that everyone has their own definition of great. We also have to take into account what type of greatness the country at hand is achieving. Economical greatness? Statistical greatness? What about moral greatness? There are "right" decisions, and their are right decisions. For example, a "right" decision may be to completely cut off all immigration to the US forever so that we don't let any more potential terrorists in. However, the right decision may be to continue having an open border, but improve our background checks. That way, we can insure safety, but still help refugees keep themselves and their families out of dancer. (Note: These examples do not demonstrate my beliefs/opinions on immigration. I just used them to make a point. If you would to read my views on immigration, scroll back farther to past blog(s).) I believe that for a country to be great, it must be politically, economically, financially, statistically and morally just. However, I don't require America to be the best country. I just require to be the best form of America it can be. I believe that it is just in all of the topics listed. Therefore, I believe that America is the greatest country in the world.
