News Flash: Male Feminists - They ARE a thing.
I was pretty ticked during class today after having an unsuccessful, unintelligient argument/debate/discussion with another classmate about Feminism. Here's what went down. Enjoy! <3

Just because an individual is not of the female gender does not mean that they cannot fight for female rights and equality. After to talking to multiple guys about my opinion and view about feminism, I went back to each and asked if a male feminist was a thing. Each and every one of them said no. One even scoffed and chuckled a bit as if to say "why would my gender defend yours?". After confirming my own beliefs online, I noted that male feminists do exist.
Quite frankly, I am completely dumbfounded and honestly a bit disturbed about my generation's views on these topics. After sharing with certain males that I am indeed a feminist, I was disgusted by the recurring reply of, "So you're voting for Hillary?". I even received feed back from one male who actually said, "So you want equal rights for women? Well women can hit men, so if they're 'equal' then that means men can punch women." I honestly had no words for him. After recovering from the extreme rage caused by that, I started thinking about how some people who may not have a vast knowledge of what feminism is, could potentially just interpret "womens' rights" to mean "well hey, if she can do it to him, he can do it to her!". Nooooooooooo. Just no. I believe that domestic abuse of women can also fall into the argumentative category of feminism, so why on earth would one offer that 'point' when it goes against (what I believe) is feminism itself. I also try to make it clear that I know that in all situations, the man is not always the bad guy. Me being a feminist does not include me discriminating between genders or blaming one/favoring one. It includes me fighting for the rights of people who just so happen to be the same gender as me.
It pains me to look around at the world, and what mess it's gotten itself into with this god awful election. Every Trump supporter I've asked has denied to answer or reply with any arguments on Mr. Trump's demeaning remarks about women. Whenever I bring up one of his weaknesses, especially one related to women, the debate ultimately turns into some sort of scale where the 'weight' of each candidate's shortcomings are evaluated before quickly turning tables and yelling empty arguments about how awful Secretary Clinton is. Due to hatred of the opposition, this election is the first I've seen where people seem to know more about the opposite candidate's weaknesses instead of their own candidates strengths. I'm honestly terrified for this election, but based on my generation, I have a sinking feeling in my stomach that by the time we're able to vote, the election then will somehow find a way to be even worse than the current one. People need to tart closing their mouths for a moment and opening their ears (and their hearts for that matter) instead.
